OUR VISION AND VALUES
Trans European Airways was born of an idea of making a Virtual Airline based in Lisbon, exclusively Airbus equipped, professionally built, Project Magenta® compatible, with a large spectrum of routes, primarily having the European continent as a goal, but with a broad range of destinations connecting Lisbon to the five continents, in an historical line with the Portuguese History, where Portugal was, once, the center of the World, with the Discoveries during the 15th and 16th centuries.
Continuing this, nowadays strategic connections for a Lisbon Hub are served directly, like Beijing, Washington, New York, Caracas and Cape Town (centers of a big portuguese diaspora), Dubai or Singapore, along with Sydney (with one stop at Dili, East Timor). Other major world hubs are also served non-stop from Lisbon, expanding connectivities, like Atlanta or Los Angeles (in the US), Frankfurt, Heathrow, Paris and Rome (in Europe) or São Paulo (in South America). Following the need to evolve and adapt, Trans European Airways has grown bigger and became Trans European Airways, VAG (Virtual Airline Group) in 2017, holding European Executive (a corporate jet division), European Air Cargo (specialized in freight flights), and European Med Express (standing for Mediterranean Express), a subsidiary based on the North of Africa (dedicated to the regional routes of the Mediterranean market, it replicates the operations of a medium haul express airline, based at DAAG, low-cost driven, and with routes serving mainly the south of Europe and the North of Africa). By the end of 2021, the Group was enriched with European City Express, a subsidiary airline based in Brussels, working as a regional and commuter airline in Central Europe, this way expanding connections for the hubs of Lisbon, Porto and Algiers, on an integrated network.
There are more than 450 airports where the European Airways Group of airlines flies to and the flight planning and procedures follow closely real world standard operations. The Group is composed solely by AIRBUS featured virtual airlines. Without any disregard to the quality and characteristics of other airliners, this was an option, reflecting a passion for the new standards AIRBUS created when it started to develop the concept of fly-by-wire adapted to commercial airliners and continuing to the leading technological role of nowadays.
Following the concept of commonality, benefitting from the similar handling qualities provided with fly-by-wire, along with the identical cockpits and operating procedures, a virtual pilot can more easily make his way in studying and learning how to fly these medium to long haul marvellous electronic aircrafts in a virtual environment.
Lastly, the chosen name “Trans European Airways” is a tribute to the real world Airline with the same name (original IATA code HE), founded by Georges Gutelman in 1971. The global economic downturn in the early nineties, partly as a result of the Gulf War caused it to go out of business on September 27, 1991. Our Virtual airline has not the goal of reproducing its operations. Instead, the reason why this airline's name was adopted for this project had two main reasons: along with the perfect adaptability of the designation “Trans European” to the routes and destinations goal intended for this VA, this airline had the symbolic relevance of becoming the first airline ever to order an Airbus.
Every virtual pilot wishing to be a part of this project is welcome.
